The Obama Choppa

We are in Washington for a couple of days while Anne works at a workshop on transforming undergraduate biology education. I've been out looking at the city, and got this shot of the Washington monument.

Shortly after that, three helicopters flew over, with the lead one landing at the White House, while the other two circled overhead. After a half hour or so, they headed back in the direction of Reagan International Airport.

A closer shot of the lead chopper.

Lots more stuff to put up from the last week, I'll get to it when I have more consistent internet access!

  1. The motorcades are even more fun. The last I saw was for Bush Jr. a few months before his last term ended. There were at least 60 motorcycles and around 30 or 40 odd suburbans and police cars. The cops were racing ahead and shutting down the on ramps and then cycling back around to get in line and do it again. It was quite the production and smacked a bit of paranoia. It was pretty amusing.
