Anne, well doused with water from the hose. On our first day out of California we crossed into Arizona near Blythe, and set up for the night at Gilbert Ray Park, a county park outside Tuscon in the Sonoran Desert amongst Saguaro Cacti.
"With the cruel heat of the summer beating down on us," Anne adds from the couch across from me, getting her bit in.
The heat made the dogs take refuge under the RV, and Anne and I doused each other with water from the hose to try and cool off a little.
Two friends of ours on their way back from Mexico stopped in to visit, and made for a great first night headed across the country.
